Ratcliffe pushing: Man Utd battling rivals for signing of insane Premier League star

According to a recent transfer update, Manchester United is reportedly in competition with one of its major rivals to recruit a “insane” Premier League player.

News of Man Utd’s transfer
In recent weeks, the Red Devils have been associated with a number of prospective acquisitions, ahead of what looks to be an exciting summer transfer window under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s direction.

One such player is Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen, a wing-back who provides excellent play down the right flank and has been instrumental in his team’s Bundesliga title victory this season. The 23-year-old, who has eight goals and seven assists in the tournament so far in 2023–24, is a potential improvement over players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

Jarrad Branthwaite, who recently scored the game’s first goal at home against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, has also become United’s top target at the conclusion of the season after an outstanding Premier League campaign for a failing Everton team.

Given the number of ageing players at centre back, it is imperative that attention be paid to that position in the summer. Nice’s highly-regarded Jean-Clair Todibo has emerged as another alternative for Erik ten Hag.

On the other hand, it’s possible that some of the existing squad departs once the current season ends. Marcus Rashford is one player the team could be ready to let go after a disappointing year.

“Insane” Premier League star is what Man Utd wants.
According to a Spanish story that CaughtOffside recently shared, Ratcliffe believes Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma would be a great addition to Manchester United this summer.

It could be difficult to get the Japanese star before the upcoming campaign, though, since Manchester City and Arsenal, two Premier League opponents, also want him.

Brighton-Mitoma
Mitoma, who has been a standout performer for Brighton since joining from Kawasaki Frontale back in 2021, might be a terrific addition for United this summer. The Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi has praised the player in the past for his quickness, dribbling, and unpredictable play, saying:

“I’m out of things to say to Mitoma. He’s so, so underappreciated—trust me when I say that. The usefulness of mitoma has not been recognised by the football community. Not just for me, but for any manager, he can be an amazing player. He is crazy.”

If Rashford is traded this summer, Mitoma may even be considered an improvement over the Englishman after he finished the league with three goals and four assists.

In addition, he has averaged 2.1 dribbles per game (as opposed to 1.5 for the United player currently in play) and 1.3 key passes (as opposed to 0.8 for Rashford). These numbers indicate that he may be a more direct and inventive option that can pose a greater threat to defenders, or at the very least, excellent competition for the England winger.

One may argue that if he was surrounded by better players, those stats would rise, and he still has so much more to give at the age of 26.

Ten Hag has to release Man Utd’s “love of a goal” and fire Eriksen.
This season, the Manchester United player has scored seven goals in the Premier League.
Given that both City and Arsenal are now stronger than United, they pose a serious danger, but it is hoped that Ratcliffe can convince him to go to Old Trafford by highlighting his future goals.
