Man Utd in pole position to sign new Martin Odegaard as Ineos brush Arsenal, Man City aside

According to rumours, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS are trying to assist Manchester United in defeating both Arsenal and Manchester City in the pursuit of versatile star Sverre Nypan.

Ratcliffe has stated that he wants to bring in the “best in class” British players for Manchester United after he bought a 25% share in the team. The British millionaire is keen to recruit players like Michael Olise, a winger for Crystal Palace, and Jarrad Branthwaite, a defender for Everton.

But British players are frequently more expensive. In fact, Olise may be available for £60 million this summer, while Everton is seeking at least £70 million for Branthwaite.

Ratcliffe and his INEOS representatives must thus widen their search for somewhat less expensive players who can guarantee Man Utd’s long-term success.

Man Utd is reportedly interested in Nypan, a 17-year-old sensation who has forced his way into the Rosenborg first squad, according to German outlet Fussball News.

Nypan, who is still somewhat young, has already contributed five assists in seven games this season for the Norwegian team. His career total is five goals and six assists in 34 senior matches, having broken through last season.

The outstanding ball handling skills of the centre offensive midfielder have led to comparisons with Arsenal standout Martin Odegaard. Nypan, however, is adaptable and can also play as a center-forward or as a conventional central midfielder.

Due to Nypan’s remarkable growth, Man Utd has taken notice, put him on their desire list, and reached out to Rosenborg to explore a possible trade.

Premier League rivals Man Utd and Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the teenager. But INEOS has already made sure that the Red Devils are at the head of the queue and has laid up a route for Nypan to join the Man Utd first squad.

Over the course of the winter, Nypan’s father was questioned about his son’s impending departure from Rosenborg for a major team. In addition to mentioning another outstanding Norwegian celebrity, he hinted that no hasty decisions will be taken.

“Erling Haaland didn’t leave Norway until he was eighteen.” Here, I believe it’s wise to exercise patience,” he remarked.

If Man Utd and Nypan reach an agreement this summer, Nypan will probably spend the following season on loan at Rosenborg to further his development.

According to the source, Man Utd could then loan Nypan to a different Premier League team for the 2025–2026 season, giving him crucial first-team experience in England.

Nypan, who would be about 20 years old after that second loan period, will have the opportunity to make an immediate impression on Man Utd coaches.

Man Utd supporters may have to wait a long to witness Nypan in person. However, Ratcliffe must make this kind of move if Man Utd is to once again rank among the top destinations for outstanding young players.
