Three players are already on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s want list for Manchester United, while one is out of the question.
Given that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in charge of his first transfer window since Ineos acquired a minority stake in Man United, the summer at Old Trafford appears to be packed.
The British billionaire declared that he and his staff will start a thorough investigation of the club before the summer, including the player roster, after his investment was approved in February.
United could definitely need a makeover in the locker room; Erik ten Hag’s team has had a disappointing year and will most likely not play in the Champions League the following year.
Ten Hag’s future is unclear as Sir Dave Brailsford, Ratcliffe’s right-hand man, and Ratcliffe aren’t sure Ten Hag can lead United back to the top of English football.
Ratcliffe has already decided what kind of players he wants to sign, whether the Dutchman stays or leaves.
“I’d rather find the next [Kylian] Mbappe than spend a fortune trying to buy success,” Ratcliffe stated in an interview with The Geraint Thomas Cycling Club Podcast in March (via Sky Sports).
“In a way, purchasing Mbappe isn’t that smart, is it? That one may be figured out by anyone. Finding the next Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, or Roy Keane is far more difficult.
“It’s not our main concern, and investing a lot of money in a select few excellent players isn’t the answer. Over the past ten years, they have done that.
“Putting the appropriate individuals in the proper positions to manage and organise the club and making sure that recruiting is done correctly should be our top priorities. Recruiting fresh players is such an important aspect of managing a football team these days.”
Six players at a total cost of £232 million might be sold by United in order to make room for new players.
Two years after signing an £86 million deal to leave Ajax, Brazilian winger Antony may be sold, and Mason Greenwood, who made an impression while on loan at Getafe, may fetch a respectable price.
After suffering through minutes under Ten Hag, Amad Diallo is slated to go, while Facundo Pellistri will probably move on after returning from his loan spell with Granada.
After his Borussia Dortmund loan expires, Jadon Sancho may be moved, but if Ten Hag is fired, he might get another shot at Old Trafford.
When Anthony Martial’s contract expires, he won’t be paid a fee, but his departure will save a large portion of the salary.
