According to sources, Manchester United is making efforts to determine whether it would be possible to sign an unexpected player to anchor the defence.
Having put experienced individuals in place to manage the rebuild, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos have set the stage for one of the biggest rebuilds in Manchester United’s recent history, which should begin this summer.
The defence is one area where the team has to be rebuilt, as several defenders are allegedly worried about their futures at Old Trafford, according to ESPN.
Numerous names have been connected to United for the centre back position, and sources from Italy have connected the Red Devils to yet another applicant.

Interest in Gleison Bremer
Italian publication Calciomercato reports that United is trying to find out how realistic a summer transfer for Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer would be.
United is eager to find out whether the Brazilian would be open to moving to Old Trafford and whether Juventus would be prepared to let go of the former Torino defender.
Raphael Varane appears to be one of United’s main objectives as they want to bolster their defence in light of the possibility that the Brazilian will leave the team in the summer.
ADDITIONAL UNITED STORIES
Juventus would be open to selling the 24-year-old defender, but they would want £59 million in exchange because he wants to play in a different league.
It is unclear if United would have the funds to sign Bremer if he were not playing in the Champions League, but it appears that the Juventus star is a target.
United’s requirement for a defensive overhaul
It might be an understatement to say that United has had a difficult season. Their inability to put together a cohesive offence has not been aided by the team’s unstable defence.
The team’s woes in the Champions League, exemplified by the Red Devils’ 15 goal conceded in six group stage games, have resulted in an alarming rate of goal shipping. This season, the Red Devils have conceded 29 goals in the Premier League.
The back four’s ongoing injury problems haven’t helped, and a true clearout may be very beneficial for the team.
