In Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, Rasmus Hojlund of Manchester United put on the greatest performance of his Premier League career.

This season, the Denmark international has shown signs of frustration on multiple occasions. Most of the time, he has been starved off service, and yesterday was not much different.

Still, he made the most of the scant opportunities available. In barely three minutes, Hojlund opened the score with a strong shot into the net’s roof.

Richarlison from Spurs tied the score, but Hojlund’s wonderful assist for Marcus Rashford’s goal gave United the lead back just before halftime.

Following the half, Ange Postecoglou’s team tied the score, and the Red Devils were unable to find a victory. It was Scott McTominay’s opportunity to score in the last seconds.

There were, however, a lot of advantages. After a lengthy recovery from a foot ailment, Lisandro Martinez made his much-needed club appearance and looked strong.

After a few months away, Rashford was back among the goals at Old Trafford. The clear winner was Hojlund’s performance. Now, he has scored in back-to-back league games.

Apart from his role in the goal yesterday, the 20-year-old completed 100% of his long balls and won 100% of his dribbles. In seventy-five of his duels, he prevailed.

Hojlund was unfortunate to be on the losing side considering he only gave up the ball three times. Since this has occurred frequently throughout his rookie season, United’s defence needs to improve.

Martinez’s comeback is a major plus, and Luke Shaw ought to be back in the mix shortly. For the latter stretch of the season, Erik ten Hag ought to be able to play his finest backline.
