Contact made: Man Utd and Ratcliffe ready to trigger £30m+ release clause to sign new midfielder

Manchester United is reportedly prepared to activate the release clause of a top target at Old Trafford in order to expedite transactions this summer.

Man Utd looks to bring in new players…

Different opinions have surfaced on the necessity for Manchester United to sign players during this transfer window, even though football director John Murtough hinted that the Premier League’s biggest teams may do very little business during the month in order to allay worries about Financial Fair Play.

It is obvious that Erik ten Hag needed bodies in the door to correct his team’s disorganised start to the campaign, and journalist Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports News has asserted that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his allies will have had a role in prospective arrivals and departures.

In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, he stated: “So, just to recap, even though the deal hasn’t been formally ratified, INEOS would have to be consulted about any deal that happens.” They told me the transfer strategy when they signed that deal, even though, as I mentioned, it hasn’t been ratified. Thus, they would have been able to influence the events that take place during this January transfer window.”

Red Devils fans may be relieved by this news, but it’s still unclear who might show up in the North West during this window while they quietly consider which players to target based on their own needs. According to rumours, new evidence has surfaced suggesting that Manchester United is prepared to fulfil the release clause of a skilled midfield player this month.

Man Utd prepared to trade Javi Guerra

Manchester United is reportedly interested in Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra and has made first contact about a transfer for the Spain Under-21 international this month, according to Catalan publications.

According to the outlet, the Red Devils are willing to pay Guerra’s release clause, which is estimated to be worth €40 million (£34.4 million), in order to get the playmaker for Old Trafford. Seen as a potentially significant addition to Ten Hag’s engine room, the Valencia native is seen as a good value and, should he choose to join Manchester United, would receive a large salary in England.

Valencia’s Javi Guerra
Referred to as a “deep-lying orchestrator” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Guerra has made 19 appearances for Valencia this season across all competitions, tallying three goals and one assist (Guerra statistics – Transfermarkt).

This is a transaction to watch because Guerra might provide a different dimension to Manchester United’s engine room going ahead, both in the short and long term. Manchester United may need more variation on the pitch to attempt and rectify their erratic form.
