“Agreement has been reached” – Sky Sports say Manchester United set to sign “quality” new player

According to a transfer update provided by Sky Sports, Manchester United is expected to sign Sergio Reguilon on deadline day.

Are Sergio Reguilon and Man United signing?

The last few hours of the transfer window should be quite busy for the Red Devils. The team has added Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, and former defender Jonny Evans before Friday.

But earlier today, United announced the signing of custodian Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce; Onana’s backup will probably be the Turkish stopper.

A new left-back has also been considered in light of Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw’s injuries in recent days. Chelsea was interested in Marc Cucurella, and Spurs’ Reguilon was also being considered. It appears that the latter will join Manchester United.

On deadline day, Sky Sports News provided an update from inside Old Trafford, stating that the player had already finished his medical and that a loan agreement had been finalised.

“We are aware that Sergio Reguilon will be loaned to Manchester United.” An deal has been made, and after the medical is finished, it will soon be made public.

“There might also be a break clause in January.”

After director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves travelled to Italy, the team is attempting to make a last-minute move for midfield player Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.

Sergio Reguilon: who is he?

Reguilon, a left-back with 52 Premier League games under his belt, can also play a little bit farther forward as a left midfielder when necessary. He will be arriving in Manchester.

The Spaniard, who has also played for Real Madrid and Sevilla, was at Atletico Madrid for a portion of the last campaign in his own country and doesn’t seem to be in Ange Postecoglou’s plans for Tottenham.

Commentator Noel Whelan praised the full-back after a victory over Leeds in 2021, calling him a “quality player.”

In my opinion, Reguilon was outstanding. For me, he stood out the most because he was so motivated to succeed.

“We’ve seen how Conte likes to overload opponents and break down opposition lines with those wing-backs at Chelsea in the past. He might carry out a similar action at Spurs.

“In a Tottenham shirt, he has also been able to bring out the best in Emerson thus far. It appears that they will need to be extremely physically fit. They are going to be crucial for Conte and the group.

“Reguilon is someone I have long admired. He demonstrated his dominance over the game by grabbing the winning throw to demonstrate his calibre as a player.

Consequently, given how late in the transfer season it is, he might be exactly what United is looking for in the near term at left-back, and it seems like a deal will eventually be announced.
