Marc Cucurella, who is on loan from Chelsea, will help Manchester United bolster the left back position.
With the 25-year-old, the fullback, who makes about £9.1 million annually, has negotiated personal terms of a deal.
Fabrizio Romano, a well-known journalist from Italy, wrote on his X account:
“Understand Cucurella and Manchester United have come to a basic understanding about personal matters. The player’s side received the green light.
Because they want to complete the Cucurella deal with Chelsea, Man United won’t negotiate for any other left back at this time.
The Old Trafford team had also sent a request to Barcelona, the current Spanish champions, to hire Marcos Alonso.
If Romano’s statements are to be believed, United will not pursue the Catalan defender and will instead put all of their efforts on acquiring Cucurella.
The one-cap international is a seasoned Premier League player, although most of his success came while playing for Brighton.
He unfortunately battled greatly in the previous season, along with the entire Chelsea squad, as the Blues finished in the lower half of the standings.
He has yet to play for the London club this season, and it’s probable he won’t play in tonight’s League Cup match against Wimbledon as he nears a transfer to Manchester United.
What do you think? Is Marc Cucurella capable of enhancing Erik ten Hag’s left back position without Shaw and Malacia?
