Man United could sign dream Casemiro partner with late swoop for “tenacious” £34m star

Before the summer transfer window closes the following week, Manchester United will be aiming to make one or two more acquisitions.

Due to a left-back injury crisis, Erik ten Hag appears to be looking for another left-back, and a surprise move for former Chelsea prodigy Ryan Bertrand is being considered.

If the Dutchman wants to compete on both the domestic and European fronts, more players will undoubtedly be needed at Old Trafford.

Could he look for another midfielder on the open market? The 53-year-old recently dispatched scouts to observe a Ligue 1 talent in action.

What new player will Manchester United bring in?

When scouts were sent to observe Frenchman Jean-Clair Todibo’s recent performance for OGC Nice against Lille, according to Fabrizio Romano, it appeared that Ten Hag was getting closer to signing another center-back.

However, Khephren Thuram was being watched by scouts during the same game, according to Get French football news, thus the Red Devils were also keeping an eye on someone else.

The midfielder would cost United somewhere about €40 million (£34 million), which wouldn’t exactly break the bank, though Ten Hag could have to let go of one or two players to make a prospective transfer happen.

Is Khephren Thuram any good?

United has struggled in their first two Premier League games, scoring just once, and their midfield was powerless against Tottenham Hotspur.

Only 15 passes were completed by Mason Mount throughout the game, and Ten Hag’s choice to give him a more significant role obviously didn’t go as planned.

Since his arrival in Manchester last summer, Casemiro has had a strong first season, placing second in the team for overall Sofascore rating (7.21), chances created (7), and tackles per game (3.2).

Thuram could provide the Brazilian with an exceptional midfield partner who would inject some much-needed attacking flare in the centre of the pitch if he joined the team.

Thuram could advance and show off his offensive abilities while Casemiro has excelled defensively, ranking in the top 4% of positional peers for aerials won, blocks, tackles, and interceptions per 90.

Thuram rates in the top 8% for successful take-ons (1.66) as well as the top 15% for shot-creating actions per 90 (3.46), demonstrating that he presents a threat in the final third. He also ranks in the top 5% for progressive carries per 90 (3.32) compared to positional peers.

The midfielder was hailed as “tenacious” and a “powerful & energetic carrier” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, and there is no doubt he could be a fantastic addition to the United midfield.

Ten Hag might create a dream midfield pairing with Thuram and Casemiro if they combine their attacking and defensive prowess this season, possibly leading the team to even greater success.

The Dutchman may sign a very skilled player who has not yet reached his full potential for under £34 million, and he might become a mainstay in their midfield for many years to come.
