As Erik Ten Hag prepares to complete his transfer business at Old Trafford, Manchester United has presented a proposal to an experienced expert.
What is the most recent Manchester United news?
According to FootballTransfers, the Red Devils have made progress during the transfer window and will be in for a busy final week of activity in the market as a result of the signings of Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, and Andre Onana.
Jonny Evans, a Northern Ireland player who joined Ten Hag’s team for preseason, is also close to signing a longer contract with Manchester United, according to Telegraph Sport.
If Evans were to complete a move return to Old Trafford, Harry Maguire may now face a future at Manchester United that is even more uncertain. Earlier in the transfer season, the 30-year-old was destined for West Ham United; however, his £30 million move to the London Stadium has temporarily fallen through.
Sofyan Amrabat, an enforcer for Fiorentina who is wanted by Manchester United, was kept off his current team’s roster for their Europa League play-off round encounter on Thursday due to rumours about his relationship with La Viola, according to Sky Sports.
Jean-Clair Todibo, a defender for Nice, has emerged as Manchester United’s top target between now and the end of the transfer window. However, any likelihood of the former Barcelona star joining United is dependent on player sales.
Before the game ends, Scott McTominay and Dean Henderson may quit the team. The latter has drawn interest from Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and an unspecified Premier League club.
Who else would Manchester United consider signing?
On the social media network X, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg provided an update on Manchester United’s quest for a new custodian, writing: “Understand that Odysseas Vlachodimos has received an official offer from Man Utd. Up until 2028, he could sign a contract. In essence, it is a verbal pact. Estimated price: about €15 million. Altay Bayindir is also running for the position, so Ten Hag wants him but hasn’t made up her mind. Onana would be ready to face up against Vlachodimos.
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United is reportedly looking for a back-up custodian to compete with Onana in goal since their current backup, Henderson, is still in negotiations to move to Crystal Palace.
According to Transfermarkt, Vlachodimos has been a staple for Benfica throughout his time there, making 225 appearances across all competitions while recording 94 shutouts.
The 33-cap Greek international was outstanding in helping Benfica win the Primeira Liga last season, maintaining a 75% save rate, according to FBRef.
Altay Bayindir, a custodian for Fenerbache, is also a target for the Red Devils, and they’ve already taken the first measures to bring him in by having him get a physical in case a trade materialises.
It will be interesting to watch which custodian Ten Hag chooses to strengthen his goalkeeping ranks.
