Man United have a ‘concrete interest’ in signing 27 y/o striker, club value player at around £80m

Man United is one of the teams expressing interest in signing Ivan Toney.

The current problems with Manchester United are clear to all to observe. The club simply isn’t functioning as you might anticipate, both on and off the pitch.

Even if the season hasn’t started yet, it’s difficult to ignore what’s going on. There are still more signings required. It doesn’t appear that this month will see any more additions.

As a result, it appears that focus is already shifting to the January transfer window because the media is once more speculating about a move for Ivan Toney.

It’s the Daily Mail this time. One among the teams they list as having a “concrete interest” in signing the 27-year-old striker is United. Tottenham and Chelsea are also interested, and a move as early as January is being considered.

Despite the fact that he hasn’t played recently after breaking betting laws, reports claim that his current club, Brentford, values the player at about £80 million.

Toney recently agreed to join CAA Stellar, a sports management company, in what has been called a “clear indication” of his decision to quit Brentford.

Toney would undoubtedly be a great addition. If he weren’t serving an eight-month suspension, I have no doubt that United would have looked into this transfer over the summer.

I suppose it all hinges on Rasmus Hojlund’s performance once he is healthy enough to play. I don’t see the club approving large money to sign Toney, who would probably be a rotational option most of the time, if the Dane is scoring goals for fun.

Additionally, there will be rival teams vying for his services, therefore it’s likely that £80 million will be required to lure him away from Brentford.
