Man United pushing for double midfield signing that will send fans wild

After a poor start to the season, Manchester United is still looking to bolster their midfield as the summer transfer window comes to an end.

In recent weeks, the club has been linked with a number of midfielders, but a report today suggests United could be looking to acquire not one, but two players before the September 1st deadline.

Both Ryan Gravenberch and Sofyan Amrabat, according to 90min, are being worked on by authorities, although both deals are dependent on players leaving Old Trafford.

According to the article, sources at Old Trafford have not ruled out the possibility of signing both midfielders in a double swoop this summer.

Amrabat’s potential transfer has already been “lined up” with Fiorentina, while United is still looking at its possibilities with regard to Gravenberch.

For the player Erik ten Hag gave his debut to at Ajax, United would “prefer” a loan move with a buy option. Gravenberch, a Dutch player who is interested in playing for England’s national team, is still being connected to a deal with Liverpool.

Bayern is rumoured to be “resistant” to offloading their midfielder, but if they must, they would rather make a “permanent transfer.”

It is believed that the only agreement being negotiated in relation to Amrabat is a comparable one, not a loan. At FC Utrecht, the Fiorentina man also assisted Ten Hag. The Peoples Person asserts in a report that United will “almost certainly” make a bid for the Moroccan near the end of this transfer window.

Both moves, though, are contingent on United cutting more inactive players from their roster after Fred left to join Fenerbahçe in Turkey.

As long as “ongoing negotiations” with another club are ongoing, Donny van de Beek will not be named to the matchday roster, according to Ten Hag.

In addition, Scott McTominay’s future is still up in the air, while Hannibal Mejbri has been linked with a loan move this year.

Deals for Amrabat and Gravenberch to take their place might be rapidly made if United is successful in offloading some of these players in the upcoming days, strengthening the weak midfield unit.

Initially, it appeared that United would only add one more midfielder to its roster towards the end of the transfer window, but the appalling outcome against Tottenham Hotspur may have caused the club to reconsider.
