Benjamin Pavard, a defender for Bayern Munich, is still up for grabs, and Manchester United is reportedly prepared to make an offer.
Benjamin Pavard is signing for whom?
Several of Europe’s top teams are vying for Pavard’s services, including Inter Milan, and it has lately been claimed that he has personally agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Serie A team. Pavard is the subject of a transfer saga.
Man United is prepared to pay him more money to join Old Trafford, which might give them an advantage in the competition for the center-back. Inter and Bayern Munich have not yet reached an agreement on a fee.
Recently, Fabrizio Romano posted on X remarks from Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who provided a fresh update on the Italian club’s pursuit, saying: “Pavard? On with the deal. We’re continuing in talks with Bayern.”
“Player will is important, and he wants to sign with Inter. This is the problem: Bayern needs to find a replacement so that he can leave. However, the conversation is still happening.
Although negotiations are ongoing, Inter’s pursuit of the Frenchman appears to be making headway. However, there is still room for other interested parties, like as Arsenal and Manchester United, to sabotage the deal.
United have reportedly told Bayern that they have €40m (£34m) “ready” to spend on the defender, but they must first offload Harry Maguire before they can move forward with a deal, according to sources from Italy (via Sport Witness).
Erik ten Hag’s plans have been complicated by Maguire’s refusal to join West Ham United, but despite his willingness to transfer to the San Siro, he still has a keen interest in the Bayern star.
As a result, Bayern are presently holding out for a price of £34 million from the Italian club. If Maguire is sold, Bayern may still have time to hijack the move if they are willing to outspend Inter to win the fight for the former Lille player.
Benjamin Pavard’s talent level?
According to WhoScored, the France international was the third-best centre defender in the top five leagues in Europe last season. He stood out for his passing prowess, averaging the third-most passes per game in the Bundesliga.
Maguire, on the other hand, performs poorly when in control of the ball, averaging just 84.5% of passes completed per 90 over the past year, ranking him in the 47th percentile among players in his position.
Because of this, Pavard might be an improvement in that sense. He has also averaged much more tackles per 90 over that time, showing he might be a significant improvement over Maguire defensively.
The former Stuttgart player is adaptable and skilled enough to play both center-back and right-back. He also has a wealth of experience facing off for prestigious awards, having won 13 trophies in his career, including the 2018 World Cup.
Given that Pavard has been praised as “excellent” by the media, he might be a great alternative for Maguire, but Man United must move swiftly to offload the 30-year-old if they hope to beat Inter Milan to the Frenchman’s signature.
