Ten Hag eyeing Man Utd swoop for “extraordinary” £69m machine, imagine him & Mount

Erik ten Hag is assembling a promising team; Andre Onana and Mason Mount have already arrived at Old Trafford, and striker Rasmus Hojlund has successfully completed his medical.

But the Dutchman might not be done yet; he might also go after Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.
Could Aurelien Tchouameni be acquired by Manchester United?

Sport in Spain reports that the Red Devils might try to sign the Frenchman this summer.

United would face stiff competition because Bayern Munich is also interested in signing the midfielder to Germany, but Ten Hag may be confident in doing so.

According to the report, the Old Trafford team is ‘considering presenting an economic proposal’ for a sum comparable to what Madrid paid to sign Tchouameni from AS Monaco just last summer.

This amounted to a fee of €80 million (£69 million), and United’s decision to sign him from the LaLiga team would be a significant declaration of intent for the upcoming season.
Can Aurelien Tchouameni make Manchester United better?

The 23-year-old star, who didn’t start any of their Champions League playoff games, fell further down the pecking order towards the end of the previous campaign.

He did, however, demonstrate a great deal of promise early in the Madrid team’s league season, ranking third in the group for accurate passes made per game (47.8) and first for tackles made per game (1.9), both of which demonstrated his effectiveness in the centre of the midfield.

These attributes would be ideal for Ten Hag, who could play at the base of the midfield and exert control from a position of strength while allowing attacking talents like Mount to shine.

Tchouameni demonstrated just how crucial he could be for United by ranking in the top 1% of all players in Europe’s top five leagues for both interceptions per 90 (1.98) and pass completion percentage per 90 (92.9%).

Mount might be given more freedom if the French machine controls play and consistently wins the ball back, and the Dutchman and the pair could potentially form a dream team next season.

Last season, the former Chelsea star was fourth in the team for shots per game (1.4) and key passes per game (1.3), but these numbers could certainly rise with a player like Tchouameni supporting him and freeing Mount to concentrate solely on his offensive responsibilities.

After his compatriot made his France debut in 2021, former United midfielder Paul Pogba praised him, saying:

“Extremely good. He is a man, not a boy.

It was enjoyable to play with him. He is very energising. extraordinary technical and physical quality and a lot of energy.

While Pogba’s time at United didn’t exactly go as planned, Tchouameni is a totally different animal. The gifted athlete may be just what United’s midfield needs to improve, while also forming an important partnership with Mount.
