Man Utd eyeing swoop for “complete” £34m rock, he could be Ten Hag’s answer to Saliba

Axel Disasi of Monaco is still reportedly a target for Manchester United, as manager Erik ten Hag looks to bolster the defence before the start of the upcoming season.

What’s new with Disasi joining Manchester United?
The Sun is now reporting that, despite potential concerns over the player’s price tag, the Red Devils are still on “alert” in case a deal for the Frenchman does become a possibility, following earlier rumours regarding a summer move for the 25-year-old.

Despite the fact that Ten Hag ‘wants’ the former Reims star, it may be ‘difficult’ to sign him because United seem wary of breaking Financial Fair Play regulations and are also dealing with a lingering takeover saga, according to the report.

It is thought that a deal for the 6′ 3″ rock from Old Trafford could cost around £34 million, despite the fact that teams like Arsenal and Chelsea are also prepared to pounce with offers of their own.

Axel Disasi: How good is he?
As Harry Maguire’s future at the Theatre of Dreams remains uncertain, a new central defender is being sought. The 30-year-old was recently relieved of his captaincy after appearing in just eight Premier League games last season.

Disasi is the person that the Dutchman is looking for to help provide competition for players like Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, and Raphael Varane because the former Leicester City player has been heavily linked with a departure following that slide down the pecking order under Ten Hag.

The Monaco machine, described by talent scout Jacek Kulig as “complete” and “dominant,” could prove to be a “amazing signing for any top Premier League club” because, in Kulig’s words, he was “born to play in England.”

William Saliba, another exciting Frenchman who has successfully made the transition from Ligue 1, could be Ten Hag’s answer if United are able to land their man despite the intense competition. Saliba is currently flourishing for the Arsenal.

The 22-year-old was initially signed by the north Londoners in 2019 on a £27 million deal from Saint-Etienne, though he only forced his way into the first-team picture at the Emirates last season after spending the previous few years back on loan in his homeland.

Despite having a delayed introduction to English football, the 6’4″ wonder has been nothing short of “exceptional” over the past year or so, according to manager Mikel Arteta. The player started 27 league games as part of the team’s ultimately fruitless title defence the previous season.

Saliba has been compared to a “younger Rio Ferdinand” by United legend Gary Neville; as a result, the Red Devils acquired Disasi to create their own version of the Bondy native.

Saliba ranks in the top 7% of players in his position in Europe’s top five leagues for pass completion, while his compatriot, who is skilled at playing out from the back, ranks in the top 4% for both progressive passes and progressive carries. The two players appear to have an innate calmness in possession.

The two players are also comparable defensively, with the Arsenal starlet averaging two tackles and interceptions per game in the league last season as evidence of his ball-winning skills, while Disasi is just ahead after averaging 2.3 from his 28 Ligue 1 appearances.

The similarities between the two enormous giants would lead one to believe that the United target could possibly adapt to life in England just as easily as his international counterpart has recently, and it appears that Disasi may very well emerge as Ten Hag’s answer to Saliba in the coming term.
