Rasmus Hojlund has been chosen by Erik ten Hag over Harry Kane, and Fabrizio Romano has explained why and confirmed that an official offer from Manchester United is soon to come.
Man Utd’s focus is now on acquiring a new starting striker now that Mason Mount and Andre Onana have been secured.
Harry Kane, Randal Kolo Muani, Rasmus Hojlund, and Mohammed Kudus are just a few of the names that have been connected to the Red Devils.
Kane, the talisman for Spurs, was reportedly Ten Hag’s “dream” center-forward acquisition, according to ESPN. Fabrizio Romano emphasised that simply is not the case, despite claims made over the previous 48 hours that Man Utd and Kane are back in talks.
Despite Ten Hag’s praise for Kane, Romano confirmed that financial considerations are the reason why Man Utd won’t sign the player.
That agrees with earlier Monday’s reporting from the Telegraph, which claimed that Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer to Man Utd had a £60 million “firm ceiling.” Despite only having a year left on his Tottenham contract, Kane will set you back much more than £60 million.
Romano, however, reaffirmed the idea that Hojlund is now squarely in Man United’s sights. A formal offer is also on the way, according to the respected transfer guru.
First, Romano stated on Kane’s situation on his YouTube channel: “I’m told that Man Utd are not negotiating on this one. They still think Tottenham wouldn’t give them the player.
“The entire financial package may also be way too expensive. So, at the moment, Man Utd is negotiating a deal for Rasmus Hojlund.
They have a personal understanding with Hojlund, and they intend to submit an official bid to Atlanta.
“Won’t pay crazy money” for Hojlund, according to Man Utd
Hojlund, 20, is believed to be very interested in joining the Red Devils after the personal terms agreement was reached last week.
The Telegraph reported that Romano insisted Man Utd wouldn’t spend a fortune on Hojlund.
Man Utd was initially given a whopping £86 million price tag by Atalanta. United might not be able to afford even a sizable discount on that staggering sum.
Romano continued, “They won’t pay outrageous amounts. This needs to be made very clear.
“But under the right circumstances, Man Utd wants Hojlund. Let’s see how the conversation goes as the first bid approaches.
Romano pointed in the direction of Bavaria to conclude his discussion of Kane’s future.
The journalist continued, “But there have been no talks with Man Utd as of yet regarding Harry Kane. According to sources, Bayern remain the heavy favourites to sign Kane despite the recent rumours.
“Bayern will submit a fresh offer for Kane. They believe Thomas Tuchel is pushing Kane a lot to go there.
