Man United talks to sign player ‘ongoing’, now ‘optimism’ a deal will be done

Man United and Inter Milan are still in negotiations for the signing of Andre Onana.

A new custodian is required for Manchester United Football Club. Since the news regarding David de Gea was confirmed, we at Old Trafford Faithful have said that every day.

Although I find that hard to believe, there was some chatter that Dean Henderson would be in line for the starting position. When he went on loan to Nottingham Forest, he damaged relationships at United.

Andre Onana appears to be the top target, but with Inter Milan’s preseason in full swing, there’s a good chance they’ll stay firm and keep the Cameroonian to avoid throwing their preseason into disarray.

Fabrizio Romano has, however, given an encouraging update in that regard. He confirmed yesterday afternoon on Twitter that the player’s negotiations with United are “ongoing.”

Romano continued by saying that the clubs are “optimistic” regarding the transfer of the player. He also says that additional details will be provided.

It seems like it’s either all or nothing at this point. I don’t think the club currently has any other viable options, and Onana is the only player whose name is frequently mentioned in relation to filling that hole.

There is no denying anything. Ten Hag is looking for a custodian with out-of-the-back versatility. That is something that Onana would bring to the table in spades, which is only a good thing.

As the weekend draws near, let’s hope United and Inter can continue their cordial discussions about the trade and soon come to an agreement. For everyone involved, the earlier it is completed, the better.
