Behind the scenes, there is growing optimism at Manchester United that Chelsea’s Mason Mount will accept a prospective transfer to Old Trafford.
Mason Mount is how old?
With a significant FA Cup final this weekend, the Red Devils have the chance to finish off what may be a tremendously spectacular first season under Erik ten Hag’s leadership.
The Dutchman may win two trophies in one season after finishing third in the Premier League and earning a spot in the Champions League. He also won his first trophy at United.
They face a tough competition from their city rivals, who are aiming for the treble and want to add another championship to their collection.
But with the Red Devils already looking to hire Mount, it appears that United’s promising 2022–23 season won’t be decided this summer.
Given that the 24-year-old’s contract only has one more year left on it, his time at Stamford Bridge may be coming to an end.
After their final weekend match against Newcastle United, Mount was seen wandering around the Stamford Bridge pitch. Some have speculated that he was taking one last look around the venue. Mount is an England international.
Additionally, Fabrizio Romano stated on his YouTube channel that there is optimism at Old Trafford that he could join the Red Devils given the interest United have received:
(2:00) “There is a feeling behind the scenes that Mason Mount and Manchester United’s agreement regarding personal terms would not be a problem.”
They believe the player is eager to join Erik ten Hag’s initiative and Manchester United. Manchester United is therefore extremely optimistic about the deal with the player.
“Chelsea are still demanding at least €80 million (£68 million) for Mason Mount, but Manchester United, for instance, now plans to spend closer to £45 million to £50 million because the player’s contract expires in the summer.
Mason Mount is valued at how much?
The Londoners will undoubtedly be saddened if the Chelsea youth programme produces the England international this summer.
He does, however, just have one year left on his current contract with Stamford Bridge, making them susceptible to losing him on a free transfer in the near future.

In light of this, it is understood that the Blues would be willing to trade the 24-year-old if they were able to fetch anywhere around £68 million.
Romano claims that United is presently only seeking to offer between £45 million and £50 million for the midfielder, but it is unclear whether that is a price United would be willing to pay for him.
Mount is now making around £80,000 per week, but when his future is decided, that amount is likely to rise considerably. His current contract is slated to end next summer.
Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly trying to persuade the midfielder to stay at Stamford Bridge despite the fact that Manchester United is showing a lot of interest in him.
But it appears that boat may have sailed by this point.
