The contract for Manchester United’s custodian David De Gea expires the next month, and the club and player have not yet reached an agreement on new terms.
According to media rumours, the Red Devils are closing in on signing David Raya, the goaltender for Brentford, for £44 million.
Raya’s market value is over £40 million, and Thomas Frank earlier this month revealed that Raya might end up leaving the Bees in the summer transfer window (The Mirror).
According to a recent report by the Spanish outlet Nacional, the 27-year-old Spaniard is almost ready to join with the team at Old Trafford.
Man United are reportedly willing to spend 51 million euros (£44 million) to complete the signing.
The Spanish World Cup team member, who has two international caps, has been in excellent form for Brentford, who will finish the season in the top half of the standings.
Raya has played for the Gtech team this season in every Premier League game and has 11 clean sheets to his credit.
In their season-ending matchup against Manchester City, the Bees might possibly qualify for the Europa Conference League with a win.
Although De Gea has been a devoted employee for us, he was only mediocre from 2018 to 2022. He has, however, found his form again this year and earned the Golden Glove trophy.
