Romano: Man Utd “in the race” for “generational” £70m ace, he’s a “bit like Haaland”

Dusan Vlahovic, a top attacker for Juventus, is allegedly a target for Manchester United this summer as the club looks to bolster its center-forward lineup.

What’s new with Vlahovic going to Manchester United?

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, claims that the Red Devils, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea are all interested in signing the 23-year-old striker. However, it is unclear whether the striker’s present club will permit a sale at the end of the current campaign.

The reputable insider expressed interest in Dusan Vlahovi on Twitter, writing: “Understand Chelsea haven’t sent a $80 million bid for him yet. A number of the club’s strikers value him, but there have been no offers or negotiations.

Bayern and Manchester United are still vying for Vlahovi, but they are awaiting Juventus’ decision.

Romano debunked recent ESPN rumours that the Stamford Bridge club had submitted a €80 million (£70 million) bid for the former Fiorentina player’s services, despite the towering asset having only relocated to Turin on a £66.6 million deal back in January 2022.

What kind of play does Vlahovic make?

The Belgrade native is drawing attention due to his uncanny resemblance to Erling Haaland, the talisman of Manchester City, according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who earlier said the sought-after ace is “a bit like Haaland.”

That similarity is noticeable given that both players are powerful left-footed alternatives in attack, with the City great standing at 6 feet 4 and Vlahovic only slightly shorter at 6 feet 3.

Although the Juve player has struggled to match the Norwegian’s recent ruthless goalscoring form (Haaland has scored 52 goals across all competitions this season), he has been a clinical presence in his own right with 23 goals in 62 games for the Old Lady thus far after previously tallying 49 goals in 108 games during his time in Florence.

The Serbian FA president, Nenad Bjekovic, even went so far as to say that Vlahovic is “better and more than complete” than the Etihad hero, expressing his admiration for his abilities. Forbes’ Emmet Gates also called Vlahovic a potential “generational” talent.

Gates stated early in the season that the striker is “a Ferrari being driven like a Fiat” by manager Max Allegri, and that a change in scenery may be what is needed for him to actually get back firing once again. The £220k per week machine only has 10 league goals this season.

Erik ten Hag will probably be hankering for a player with a Haaland-like skill set, and Vlahovic may be the player for United, who may let Anthony Martial leave this summer.
