“It’s over…” – Fabrizio Romano shares exit news he’s now heard out of Man Utd

According to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Axel Tuanzebe will depart Manchester United on a free after the current season, it appears that the player’s time at the club is coming to an end.

The defender struggled to earn Premier League minutes at Old Trafford during the first half of the 2022–23 season, therefore he spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Stoke. Despite joining the Potters in January, the player has only made four appearances—three of which were starts—at the bet365 Stadium, and the Potters’ Championship campaign is now officially over.

The 25-year-old was sent to Napoli prior to his promotion to the second tier in an effort to increase his playing time. However, he only made one Serie A appearance after that move, and Aston Villa only gave him six starts throughout his previous employment. His last sustained period of playing time was with the Villains, back when they were competing for the Championship.

Tuanzebe has had trouble breaking into the Red Devils’ first team. In five seasons with the club, he has made just ten Premier League starts, and since Erik Ten Hag became manager, he hasn’t played a single minute of league action for United. The defender now appears to be getting the boot because he was unable to join the fold earlier.

The 25-year-old will be released by United this summer and is free to choose a new club, claims reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano. “It’s over between Manchester United and Axel Tuanzebe,” he declared. It has been decided that the English CB will leave the team after the current campaign.

Tuanzebe is seeking a new chapter after loans at Aston Villa, Napoli, and Stoke City.

Is it right for Man United to let Axel Tuanzebe go?

In addition to having a great academy system, the Red Devils are also able to sign some of the top players in the globe thanks to their resources and reputation in the sport. A guy like Tuanzebe, who is halfway through his 20s and has yet to make an appearance in the lineup, is therefore unlikely to ever see consistent playing time at Old Trafford.

However, if the defender can maintain his fitness, he can still perform admirably abroad. He achieved a respectable 6.60 WhoScored rating and 1.3 tackles per game with four clearances throughout his appearances for Stoke this season, for instance. Even looking at his performance for United in the Europa League in the previous season (2019–20), it is clear he is capable of delivering at a high level. Throughout his four appearances in the competition, he was able to maintain a WhoScored rating average of 7.22 and even win a Man of the Match honour.

Tuanzebe would then be a good addition for any number of teams this summer, but as there is unlikely to be any further United action, the decision was probably the right one.
