According to Tutto Mercato Web, Manchester United has made a £102 million offer to sign midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window.
Many clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and PSG, are showing interest in Bellingham, but it appears that Man United is doing everything it can to win the race for one of the most sought-after players on the planet.
His value increased following a strong performance for the Three Lions at his first World Cup in Qatar, where he played every minute as England was eliminated by eventual champions France in the quarterfinals.
The Englishman, who joined Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020, has established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Bundesliga after making 131 appearances across all competitions, contributing to 25 assists and scoring 23 goals.
Last summer, there were rumours that he would leave the Signal Iduna Park, but Dortmund were not eager to part ways just yet after selling Erling Haaland to Manchester City. Bellingham will likely depart Germany this summer, though.
Real Madrid became the front-runner after Liverpool decided against making a move for the England international due to the money involved and shifted their attention to other options.
TuttoMercatoWeb asserts that Manchester United is the ‘highest bidder’ after they submitted a bid of £104 million (€120 million) for the 19-year-old in an effort to sabotage Real Madrid’s pursuit of the highly regarded midfielder.
Excellent Signing
Bellingham has contributed seven assists and 13 goals to Dortmund’s offence in 41 games this season. With 64 points, Dortmund is second in the Bundesliga, one point behind leader and defending champion Bayern Munich.
He might turn out to be a long-term investment for the Red Devils, who have an ageing midfield with players like Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, both of whom are in their 30s.
Both players joined United last summer and have been important members of Erik ten Hag’s squad, helping them win the Carabao Cup in February and battle for a top-four finish with only four games remaining.
Bellingham is thought to be the ideal fit for the team, and Ten Hag is looking to add at least one more quality midfielder to pair with Casemiro in the centre of the park.
Bellingham, however, prefers a transfer to Real Madrid and is waiting for the Spanish powerhouses to agree on a fee, according to Tutto Mercato Web. In the event that Madrid and Dortmund are unable to agree on a deal, Man Utd will hope for the worst and be prepared to take advantage of the circumstance.
