The Red Devils, who are fourth in the Premier League right now, will be hoping to hold onto that position and qualify for the Champions League in the upcoming season.

If so, manager Erik Ten Hag will need to make sure his team has a lot of depth so they can consistently compete both at home and in Europe. Harry Maguire’s potential departure, which would free up money and space, and Real Madrid’s interest in Diogo Dalot could make United even more in need of a right-back.

The right-back is also a younger option than Dalot, and he has demonstrated his excellent defensive skills at a high level with an average of 2.6 tackles and 1.6 interceptions per game (the joint-best rate at the club). He has also been dubbed “exceptional” by manager Phillipe Clement, who praised his “adaptation” to the league and added that he is a “huge perfectionist”.
