According to rumours, Manchester United deployed scouts to observe Tammy Abraham, a striker for Roma, over the weekend.
With Wout Weghorst failing to fill the enormous void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s bitter exit, United is in serious need of a quality number nine this summer.
Erik ten Hag’s top objective is Harry Kane of Tottenham, who is entering the final year of his deal with the club.
Abraham is the following name on a list that appears to be expanding daily, but United has thrown a broad net over probable candidates.
Since moving to Roma from Chelsea in the summer of 2021, the 25-year-old has made an impression, most recently scoring in the Serie A giants’ Saturday 1-1 draw with AC Milan.
Man Utd to sign Abraham?
Scouts from Old Trafford watched Roma’s weekend tie as Ten Hag considers moving the Englishman this summer.
Since “United scouts have been spotted several times in the Monte Mario stand,” according to the Italian news source Gazetta, their presence is in fact “nothing new.”
The story continues, “On each occasion – the English scouts’ presence has never changed: to observe and assess Abraham’s performances.
Also rumoured to be keeping an eye on the number nine is Paris Saint-Germain.
Abraham isn’t expected to be inexpensive this summer, either, much like Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
In order to allow the Blues to bring him back to west London this summer, Chelsea included a €80 million (£70 million) repurchase provision into his contract.
Roma is obligated to notify Chelsea of any offers they get for Abraham, even if they reject the offer. While the Italian team is likely to demand more than £70 million for the striker.
