Cristiano Ronaldo ‘wants Man United’s star at Al-Nassr’

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo, a former attacker for Manchester United, wants to rejoin Alex Telles, a left-back, at Al-Nassr.

The Brazilian international was loaned to Sevilla for the 2022–23 season after struggling to fit in at Old Trafford after coming from Porto in 2020.

Telles has played 32 times in all competitions for the Palanganas throughout their difficult season, recording three assists along the way.

However, Telles has been limited to just 11 La Liga starts this season because World Cup winner Marcos Acuna is also vying for playing time in Seville.

Since Acuna played only five minutes of Sevilla’s 5-2 aggregate victory in the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal matchup with Telles’s parent club Man United, Acuna was also selected for both legs of the matchup.

Alex Telles is expected to return to Old Trafford for the preseason as Cristiano Ronaldo ‘wants Alex Telles at Al-Nassr’ Sevilla do not have the option to make Telles’s contract permanent at the end of the season.

Telles should be permitted to leave in the upcoming months before he reaches the final year of his contract, which expires in 2024, since Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are already on the books at Man United.

In the upcoming transfer window, Al-Nassr have emerged as competitors to recruit the out-of-favor defender, and Ronaldo would be eager to reunite with his former teammate in Saudi Arabia, according to AS.

Telles’s exorbitant salary will ostensibly ruin his chances of permanently joining Sevilla, but Al-Nassr wouldn’t have an issue caving up to his financial demands.

Telles is still a crucial component of Brazil’s plans, so it is unclear if he has any desire to leave Europe. He might be concerned that a move to Saudi Arabia might cost him his position on the national squad.

Telles played for the Super Lig team from 2014 to 2016—including a loan stint at Inter Milan in his second season—before moving on to join Porto permanently. Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray may attempt to get the player back together.

Telles joined Man United from Porto in the summer of 2020 for just €15 million (£13.2 million), and in 50 games for the Red Devils since, the Brazilian has tallied one goal and eight assists.

Telles made 18 starts in the Premier League during the 2021–22 season, assisting four goals while doing so. He also played the full 90 minutes in each of his team’s final five games in the top division, albeit Man United only triumphed in one of them.

The Brazilian international is most likely one of several Man United defenders who will quit the team this summer, joining the likes of Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, and Phil Jones, who are all but certain to leave.

Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Brandon Williams’ futures are also in doubt, despite reports that the Red Devils intend to activate Lindelof’s contract extension.
