In a recent stalemate against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United gave up a comfortable two-goal lead by having yet another defensive breakdown in the second half.
With high-flying Aston Villa and Brighton visiting Manchester tomorrow and the following week, the Red Devils have little time to rest up.
United have done brilliantly under new manager Erik ten Hag, and after winning the Carabao Cup in February, they have advanced to their second domestic cup final of the year.
However, more work needs to be done before the 20-time English Champions can seriously contend with their obnoxious neighbours for the championship.
Ten Hag: “No, every game is a fight”
The club has carefully scouted numerous players spread out throughout Europe in an effort to bolster reinforcements for every position on the pitch.
According to DIEZ, United recently went on another recruiting trip to Greece, where a scout was present for Aris Thessaloniki FC’s 2-1 Super League triumph over Olympiakos.
Luis Palma, a forward for Aris who would score the game’s winning goal with an incredible strike straight from a corner, was the man being observed.
The Honduran international has been on fire for the Kitrinomavroi this season, notching 11 goals and seven assists in 33 games.
Despite having links to both the Spanish club Levante and the Portuguese club Braga, Palma made the unexpected decision to sign with the Greek club in January 2022 for a four and a half-year contract.
The fact that clubs like Rangers, Anderlecht, and RC Lens are fighting for his signature in addition to United shows that it has certainly worked in his favour.
The contract for Palma at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium runs through June 2026, and the Greek team will aim to get the most money possible for their star potential, knowing that trying to keep him may be pointless.
The Honduran continues to be a compelling option for the Red Devils.
The United scout “was amazed” by the Honduran’s goal, according to the Greek portal Transfer Geeks, which Diez reports. The club will continue to keep an eye on the Honduran’s condition with an eye towards a permanent transfer in the summer.
Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony are currently possibilities for United on each side of their attack, and emerging talent like Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri are there to support them.
There is a case to be made for Pellistri to go on loan since he needs more playing time to find his footing at the highest level. In that scenario, there is also a case to be made for signing Palma as an experienced substitute for the Uruguayan.
