Harry Maguire could be replaced by England teammate at Man Utd with ‘standout star’ on club’s radar

This summer, there have been rumours that Harry Maguire would be replaced by one of his England teammates by Manchester United.

On Thursday, Sevilla humiliated United 3-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium to send them out of the Europa League at the quarterfinal stage.

The first leg ended in a tie after Maguire and Tyrell Malacia each scored an own goal for Erik ten Hag’s team.

However, in the opposite fixture, Ten Hag’s troops descended to unprecedented depths. Just seven minutes into the second leg, the woeful Maguire made a mistake that gave Youssef En-Nesyri the first goal for Sevilla.

The mistake served as the catalyst for a lacklustre performance, as Loic Bade scored Sevilla’s second goal and En-Nesyri capitalised on a mistake by David De Gea to score his second and the La Liga team’s third.

Following the loss, a number of reports suggested that Ten Hag was preparing a team exodus, with Maguire perhaps leaving in the summer.

Will Maguire be sold?

The Mail Online reported that United are reportedly keeping an eye on Fikayo Tomori and Tottenham Hotspur with Maguire’s future uncertain.

According to the magazine, the 25-year-old has become a “standout star”. Tomori has undoubtedly been crucial to Milan’s success in recent years and was essential to the Rossoneri’s march to this season’s Champions League semifinal.

Here we go!

Who will take home the Premier League title this year?

Indeed, Tomori has been among the top 10 Serie A defenders in terms of successful passes, tackles won, blocks made, and possession won since the start of the 2021–2022 season, according to Stats Perform.

Additionally, he hasn’t committed a mistake that resulted in a goal, which will delight United supporters.

Tomori, who has three England caps, still has four years left on his Milan deal, and it would supposedly take a “huge offer” for the Serie A giants to even consider selling the player.
