Ten Hag eyeing Man Utd swoop for “scary quick” £62m dynamo, he’d be a Martial upgrade

Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta is apparently a target for Manchester United this summer as Erik ten Hag tries to strengthen his team in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

What has changed regarding Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer to Manchester United?

In advance of the summer transfer window, Manchester United and Real Madrid allegedly wrote a “letter of interest” expressing their interest in the striker.

The Serie A club is expecting up to €70 million (£62 million) in order for any club to get the services of the player in time for the upcoming season, so the youngster won’t be cheap.

Rasmus Hojlund might sign with Manchester United.

The Old Trafford team undoubtedly has the resources to move forward with a deal, and the player even admitted to being a supporter of the team when asked, saying: “Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan.”

This might give Erik ten Hag a significant advantage over the other interested parties, and with the Dutchman looking to greatly expand his options in the attacking third, Hojlund might be the perfect addition.

The Dane would also be a significant improvement over Anthony Martial, who has recently struggled at Old Trafford and may be traded this summer.

In fact, Hojlund has outperformed the United forward this season in terms of goals (ten to six), shots on target per 90 (1.3 to 1.03), shot-creating actions per 90 (three to 2.22) and total touches in the opponent’s penalty area (112 to 29), indicating he would be a significant upgrade in the coming season.

The 20-year-old has performed admirably on the international stage recently and has recently scored seven goals over 26 league appearances since joining Atalanta in the summer. He has also created one significant chance and averaged 1.6 shots per game.

Hojlund made his senior debut for Denmark in September of last year, but it wasn’t until a match against Finland in March that he scored his first goals for his nation, netting an incredible hat trick. Three days later, he added another goal, giving the player more goals than Denmark’s total number of caps.

The youthful dynamo undoubtedly possesses all the skills necessary to compete at the highest level, with his terrifying pace one of his key assets; earlier this year, journalist Sacha Pisani labelled the striker as “scary quick.”

Hojlund has the potential to develop into one of the best strikers in the world, so Ten Hag will be desperate to add some quality to his squad. By getting rid of deadwood like Martial, Hojlund may become a significant addition not just for the upcoming season but for years to come.
