Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd are favourites to sign £39m ‘best defender in the world’, not Liverpool

Kim Min-jae’s transfer pursuit is being led, according to Fabrizio Romano, by Manchester United rather than Liverpool.

The £39 million (La Gazzetta dello Sport) release clause in the Napoli center back’s contract will be activated on July 1 but only for a 15-day window.

It appears as though Manchester United are currently in the lead as they compete with Liverpool to sign Kim Min-jae.

Kim Min-jae was acquired by Manchester United over Liverpool.
This year, as the center of a Napoli team that appears destined to win the Serie A, the 26-year-old has become one of the most highly regarded center-halves in Europe.

In fact, according to talkSPORT, Luciano Spalletti once referred to the colossus as “the best defender in the world.”

Fabrizio Romano provided a critical update on the situation as Manchester United and Liverpool engage in a transfer tug-of-war to sign Kim Min-Jae.

“I’m told that Premier League clubs are trying to extend Kim’s contract, but Napoli is reportedly pushing for it. However, after this week, we will be clearer,” he said on the Here We Go podcast. Kim doesn’t want to be sidetracked by Napoli.

Kim Min-jae is a big opportunity, but right now I’ve heard more about Man United than Liverpool.

The player probably wants to join the Red Devils, according to the HITC.
It’s straightforward: Jurgen Klopp and company appear ominously close to the end of a storied era, while Erik ten Hag’s men are on the rise.

Knowing this, it makes sense why he would be much more tempted to accept a transfer to Manchester United than to Liverpool.

In addition, compared to their biggest rivals, Liverpool appears unlikely to advance to the Champions League, which may have also played a significant role in the player’s choice.
