“That’s the problem” – Insider drops damning claim on “so unreliable” MUFC star; Ten Hag agrees

Anthony Martial, a striker for Manchester United, has been dubbed “unreliable” by journalist Dean Jones because of his inability to play regularly.

What’s new with Anthony Martial and Manchester United?
Given their recent unfortunate injury setbacks, the Red Devils may have a challenging final stretch of the season.

In fact, Raphael Varane is anticipated to miss a few weeks as well as Lisandro Martinez, who has been sidelined for the remainder of the season after breaking a metatarsal in his foot.

Marcus Rashford is also sidelined due to a muscle injury on top of that. However, Martial now has a chance to make a good impression. And the Frenchman really seized his opportunity, turning in a noteworthy performance last week against Sevilla.

However, insider Jones explained on the most recent episode of the Chasing Green Arrows podcast that he simply can’t play enough to ever truly be a reliable option for the team.

He said, “Isn’t he so unreliable? He is so erratic.

“Not in terms of playing well when he is playing, that’s the issue; getting him onto the field is.”

Will Martial play for Manchester United the entire game against Nottingham Forest?
Martial definitely performed well for Man United last week. In the player ratings for the Manchester Evening News, for instance, journalist Samuel Luckhurst gave him an 8/10 and stated: “His assist for Sabitzer’s second goal was one of his best pieces of play in a United shirt. He didn’t let us down in his first start in almost three months.”

You can see, though, why Jones has his reservations about the player within that praise. Martial had only made six Premier League starts this season due to a string of injuries, so this was his first start in three months.

The £250,000 per week star has played fewer games but still managed to score seven goals and provide three assists across all competitions, displaying flashes of his potential.

He has only scored nine goals in 32 games over the course of his last three Premier League seasons, so it’s not like he’s been producing enough to cement a spot in the starting lineup.

Additionally, it appears that manager Erik ten Hag does not believe he can rely on Martial to play the full 90 minutes of games even with Rashford sidelined.

The manager said of Martial starting and finishing a game: “Maybe he can but it’s a risk and we can’t take that risk at this moment,” according to the Manchester Evening News, before this weekend’s match against Nottingham Forest.

“Because Rashford and [Alejandro] Garnacho’s injuries limit our frontline options, which is why we don’t have many options there.

“We must exercise caution, and with regard to each individual prospect, we are aware that he is susceptible to injury under heavy loads. The recovery time is therefore shorter when the games are closely spaced apart, so we must build it with that in mind and manage it [well] and carefully.

It is therefore easy to understand why Martial continues to irritate the Old Trafford faithful.
