“Talks…” – Fabrizio Romano provides key update over future of Man Utd ace admired by Ronaldo

Journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the status of negotiations for the right-back Diogo Dalot of Manchester United, stating that they are still “ongoing.”

Is Dalot’s season going well?

After moving from Porto as a youngster and joining the team in 2018, the Portuguese is still a relatively young player with a promising future. When healthy, he has been United’s first-choice right-back, starting 19 Premier League games and contributing two assists.

However, the 24-year-old’s future has recently come up as his present contract expires at the end of the upcoming season, making him eligible to leave on a free transfer at that time. No extension has yet been agreed upon, but the two parties are working on it with the hope that it will happen soon.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka may be the most probable right-back to go during the summer transfer window, despite reports that United are interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. It appears that United do not want to lose Dalot.

A new development has been made in the case of the Portugal international.

Will Dalot re-sign with Manchester United?

Romano mentioned their continuous pursuit of Frimpong while stating that negotiations between United and Dalot are “ongoing” on Twitter:

“Jeremie Frimpong, interested in a potential move to Manchester United, is not yet there as his agency visited with #MUFC, FC Bayern, and Barcelona.

Diogo Dalot’s situation is unaffected at this time by interest in Frimpong because long-term contract negotiations are still ongoing.

We believe that maintaining hold of Dalot this summer is crucial for United since the defender is still developing and has the potential to become one of the top right backs in the Premier League. Indeed, his fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo has praised him as “smart,” “intelligent,” and “very professional,” which says a lot about his prowess as a footballer considering the high bar the all-time great sets.

If Frimpong joins at the conclusion of the season, he and Dalot might compete for a regular starting spot under Erik ten Hag, guaranteeing that United has two top-notch options in the same position and fostering healthy competition at Old Trafford.

Given his long-term potential, losing Dalot at this stage of his career might be devastating. It is crucial that these contract negotiations go easily and that he commits his future to the team for many years to come.
