Man Utd set to sign potential Luke Shaw successor as Erik ten Hag makes key decision

Manchester United are close to signing Watford’s highly rated youngster Harry Amass, according to ManchesterWorld.

The left-back, who has represented England at Under-16 level, is expected to join United at the end of the season, with the Red Devils competing for his signature with Chelsea.

ManchesterWorld has learned that the player will join United because they are seen as a more stable club under Erik ten Hag’s stewardship, as opposed to the circus at Chelsea, where Todd Boehly has already sacked two managers this season.

The deal to sign Amass, while not yet signed, is expected to be completed and will strengthen United’s options in the youth team, with the possibility of him working with the first-team squad.

United’s main senior left-backs are Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, though Alex Telles is currently on loan at Sevilla and Brandon Williams is free to leave this summer.

Amass is a few years away from competing for a first-team spot, and current United youngsters Sam Murray and Alvaro Fernandez will be his main competition in the youth set-up next season, with the latter having played 36 games on loan at Preston North End this season.

United continues to be proud of their track record of developing youth-team players, with Tom Heaton, Axel Tuanzabe, Williams, Zidane Iqbal, Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay, Hannibal, Anthony Elanga, Alejandro Garnahco, and Marcus Rashford all coming up through the ranks.
