“I’m told” – Reporter says Man Utd have held “positive” conversations to sign “dominant” player

Dean Jones claims that Manchester United and Axel Disasi, a defender for AS Monaco, have had “constructive” discussions about a possible transfer.

Disasi has been linked with a move to the Red Devils recently, as manager Erik ten Hag is rumored to be looking to sign a new center-back this summer.

According to reports, Monaco was willing to sell Disasi this summer for a significant price in the neighborhood of £44 million, and United reportedly made contact over a potential transfer for the player. A new development has been made in relation to the 25-year-old, who has a contract with the Ligue 1 team till 2025.

Jones discussed United and a prospective transfer for Disasi with GiveMeSport. Initial discussions, according to the reporter, have been “positive,” and because of the Monaco link, the defender might be compared to “Patrice Evra mark two” at Old Trafford.

“Axel Disasi is a different kind of player, but if he came through the same Monaco pathway, he might be seen as Patrice Evra mark two.

His upside is big, he was a similar age to Evra when he originally joined the club, and I’ve heard that early discussions about this player over the previous several months have been generally favorable.

Could he be Virgil van Dijk from Manchester United?

Prior to the World Cup, Disasi’s Transfermarkt valuation increased to a career-high €25 million; the Old Trafford management may be wise to sign the France international.

Because Ten Hag apparently gave the go-ahead for potential exits for both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, there might be some defensive departures in Manchester over the upcoming months.

Disasi, who is 25 years old and has made 120 senior games for his present employers, is a seasoned alternative to replace Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the center of defense should they leave.

Jacek Kulig, a football talent scout, called him “dominant” and even made a comparison between him and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool in 2020. The 6 foot 2 defender has also performed admirably this season, leading Monaco in average passes per game and recording more interceptions and clearances than any of his colleagues.

With United aiming to sign a new forward and midfielder ahead of Ten Hag’s second season as manager, it may be one to watch in the coming months in light of Jones’ assertion.
