Manchester United’s pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has received a boost as Bayern Munich appears hesitant to spend big on the player.

The England captain has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with reports claiming he will leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Kane’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and while Tottenham is looking to extend it, an agreement is thought to be some time away.

The Red Devils, who are in desperate need of a centre forward, are keeping an eye on the situation and are likely planning a move.

However, reports suggest that Bayern Munich would compete with United for the Spurs talisman’s signature, providing Kane with a sure-fire shot at silverware.

The kind of fee Tottenham would expect, however, appears to be out of reach for the Bavarian giants.

“I’m not ruling anything out, but can we afford and do we want such a transfer?” When asked if his club would spend €100 million on a player, Bayern’s chief financial officer Dr Michael Diederich pondered.

“We must keep an eye on profitability.” (The Mirror)

Kane is unlikely to leave for less than €100 million, which could rule Bayern out of contention for the striker.

While there may be other clubs interested in Harry Kane, Manchester United appears to be the most likely destination.

Of course, the striker has the option of staying with the Lillywhites beyond the summer.

He may even look to finish his contract and leave on a free transfer in 2024, when he will almost certainly have his pick of clubs.
