Manchester United has already begun talks with Jeremie Frimpong, as Bayer Leverkusen announces their market value for the player.
Erik ten Hag, who is looking for an elite attacking right-back, has identified Frimpong as a top summer transfer target.
Frimpong, 22, has eight goals and six assists in 26 Bundesliga games this season.
After attending Manchester City’s academy, he joined the German club in January 2021 for €11 million.
When he was seven years old, the Netherlands international moved to the north-west of England with his family, and he joined the Premier League club’s youth setup a few years later.
According to Sport Bild reporter Axel Hesse, United has been in contact with Frimpong’s party for several weeks at this point.
Meanwhile, according to Sport Bild’s sources, Leverkusen value Frimpong at €50 million.
Because the player’s contract has two years left on it, this summer is an ideal time for Leverkusen to bring in a large fee.
The price tag has also been inflated by interest from other top clubs, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona set to compete with United for the 22-year-old’s signature.
What is crucial, however, is Frimpong’s attachment to Manchester: after Amsterdam, Manchester became his second home.
According to Bild, this will influence Frimpong’s decision and is already swaying him toward a move to Old Trafford.
United have recently been linked with Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard.
