Manchester United ready to pay release clause to sign ‘the next Cristiano Ronaldo’

The player dubbed “the next Cristiano Ronaldo” has a release clause, and Manchester United has privately decided to pay it.

For the upcoming season, Erik ten Hag is already looking for new additions, with the vanguard already being of paramount importance. The second part of the season has seen the Red Devils rely heavily on Dutch forward Wout Weghorst, underscoring their need for a more effective striker.

The top objective is still Harry Kane, with Victor Osimhen being a good backup. However, a Portuguese starlet who is much more accessible than the top choices is now on everyone’s mind.

Ignacio Ramos Portugal’s Benfica
Goncalo Ramos, a standout for Benfica, is wanted by Manchester United.

Spanish source According to A Bola, Manchester United is prepared to match Benfica’s release provision in order to acquire super striker Goncalo Ramos and bring him to Old Trafford.

Ramos gained notoriety at the World Cup when, during the competition’s knockout rounds, he replaced the injured Cristiano Ronaldo and scored a hat-trick against the Swiss. He and Benfica are still playing in the Champions League while having a strong season in the Primeira Liga.

The release option for the 21-year-old, however, is reportedly worth up to £100 million, so he won’t be cheap.

However, the Lisbon company is not in need of the money and is under no obligation to sell. They let Enzo Fernandez go for more than £100 million after selling Darwin Nunez for a price of up to £75 million in the previous year.

On February 26, 2023, in Pacos de Ferreira, Portugal, Enzo Fernandez of SL Benfica was seen in action during the Liga Portugal Bwin encounter between Pacos de Ferreira and SL Benfica at Estadio Capital do Movel.
After making significant profits from the sales of players like Enzo Fernandez, Benfica won’t feel compelled to make any more high-profile sales.

In what could be an expensive transfer season, United are also rumored to be looking for a new No. 8 in midfield, a right-back to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as well as a potential new center-back and goalkeeper.
