Man Utd ‘open up transfer talks’ to seal free agent highly rated by Lionel Messi

Manchester United and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar are allegedly in talks about a summer transfer. The 24-year-old’s high-caliber endorsements, including those from seven-time Ballon d’Or champion Lionel Messi, attest to his abilities.

Aouar’s contract with Lyon is scheduled to expire in July, making him a potential free agent this summer.

The Frenchman, formerly a top-rated young midfielder in Europe, recently shifted his national allegiance to Algeria.

Aouar is reportedly in Erik ten Hag’s sights as the Dutchman sees the region as crucial to strengthen in his second summer transfer window.

Spanish news sources claim that United is in touch with Lyon in an effort to speak with Aouar about a possible move to Old Trafford.

If he doesn’t sign a new deal with Lyon before his current deal expires in three months, Lyon will eventually have no say in his future with the Ligue 1 club.

According to the report, Real Betis, who are ‘waiting’ for Aouar because he prioritizes a transfer to La Liga, present United with significant competition.

However, it’s thought that his choice was significantly influenced by Champions League soccer. The Red Devils will currently give that for the upcoming season, but Betis won’t.

No less than Messi, who included Aouar in his list of the top 15 young players to monitor in 2020, is one of Aouar’s admirers.

“He is always calm with the ball at his feet with an excellent technical quality,” the Argentine legend said.
Kevin De Bruyne, the star player for Manchester City, is another renowned figure who has praised Aouar.

After Lyon eliminated Pep Guardiola’s team from the Champions League that same year, the Belgian was left speechless by Aouar.

De Bruyne praised Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, saying, “I don’t follow the French league as closely as other leagues, but if I had to choose one player from Lyon who has impressed me, it would be him. He was fantastic.”

If United spends a nine-figure sum on a new striker at the end of the season, signing Aouar for nothing might wind up being too good of a deal to pass up.
