Man Utd in fight with Liverpool over deal to sign£28m star in bargain summer swoop

According to Football Insider, Manchester United and Liverpool are allegedly set to compete for the services of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka this summer.

Big European teams have been showing a lot of interest in the 23-year-old after seeing him perform consistently in the Bundesliga in recent seasons.

The defender’s current deal with Oliver Glasner’s team is set to expire at the end of this season, and he is anticipated to depart Deutsche Bank Park for free after turning down several contract offers to sign an extension.

Liverpool and Manchester United appear to be waiting in the wings to seize this opportunity and acquire the player as a free agent this summer.

Ndicka will depart Frankfurt this summer, and Man Utd is eager to entice the Frenchman to Old Trafford, according to the Football Insider report.

The record Premier League winners, Liverpool, are reportedly also interested in signing the 23-year-old, so getting his signature won’t be easy for them.

According to rumors, United will try to improve their team this summer in order to keep up Erik ten Hag’s rebuilding efforts.

The priority areas for reinforcements have been determined to be the attack and midfield, but it appears that Man Utd are also seeking to add another centre-back, with Ndicka — who is now emerging as a serious target and is estimated by Transfermarkt to be worth around £28 million — as another option.

Due to a lack of options, Ten Hag was compelled to fill Lisandro Martinez’s spot this season with Luke Shaw, a left-back by nature, despite preferring to use a left-footed left center-back. Therefore, it would be wise to acquire a new left-footed center-back like Ndicka to assist the Argentine.

The backline appears to be on Jurgen Klopp’s to-do list for the upcoming summer window as Liverpool, on the other hand, are reportedly seeking to revamp their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Ndicka has proven his ability in a top league like the Bundesliga, so if either club is successful in finalizing a deal this summer, he would undoubtedly be a great addition to Man Utd or Liverpool.

If Man Utd and Liverpool decide to compete with each other for this deal, it will be fascinating to see who will acquire the Frenchman first.
