Gabri Veiga, a midfielder at Celta Viga, is said to have a release clause that Manchester United would be willing to activate this summer.

Veiga, who is only 20 years old, has seen his value on Transfermarkt soar from €1.5 million to a career-high €30 million in the past year.

Veiga, a center midfielder who primarily plays as an offensive midfielder, has made 29 appearances so far this season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists.

The Spain U21 international had already received Jacek Kulig’s praise for being “amazing,” and last month a transfer to Old Trafford was suggested. In addition to Arsenal and Newcastle, the Red Devils were keeping an eye on Veiga last month, and there has since been another off-field development.

United has expressed interest in Veiga, according to a recent update from the Spanish outlet AS. Any of the aforementioned teams are willing to meet the midfielder’s €40 million (£35.2 million) termination clause, according to reports that Manchester City and Liverpool have joined the Red Devils, Arsenal, and Newcastle in the hunt to sign him.

The Verdict: Wise decision?

Veiga may be a player of interest and a potential star in the making, possibly at Old Trafford, as Erik ten Hag appears to be on the lookout for a new midfielder and striker this summer.

You could argue that Veiga has room in Manchester going into Ten Hag’s second season because he is one of the “in” players in La Liga and is obviously in demand.

Bruno Fernandes is the only pure attacking midfielder the United manager currently has on his roster, so Veiga might join and pick up tips from the Portugal international as he develops. After a successful season with his current employers, it would be reasonable to assume that he would be able to continue playing regularly for the first team, especially because United is on track to participate in four different tournaments again the following year.

At little over £35 million, a deal could prove to be wise in the short and long terms. He might try to relieve some of Fernandes’ burden while also giving Ten Hag another dynamic midfield option.
