Blow for Man Utd as 25-goal star’s asking price has been raised by€50m

Despite interest from Manchester United, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly hasn’t changed his value of Victor Osimhen at €150 million, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nigerian star has been in excellent form for the Naples team this season, making 29 appearances across all competitions and scoring 25 goals and dishing out five assists.

Osimhen has discussed a potential exit ahead of the summer, but it’s been said that De Laurentiis won’t talk about it until a club offers the €150 million asking price.

One of the top contenders right now to sign Osimhen, who was valued at €100 million last summer, is United. In light of his outstanding performances in Serie A, Napoli increased the asking price.

United must make a crucial choice about a new striker.

Before the upcoming season, United is in severe need of a goal-scoring striker. If they want to pursue a star signing from a top European team, they could have to break their transfer record.

Osimhen, who is currently in the height of his powers, would be the ideal addition. The Nigerian has a powerful build, is skilled in the air, and has great boxing finishing ability.

Whether United will be willing to invest €150 million on him is the key question. The club’s chances of purchasing Osimhen could be improved by a potential takeover in the upcoming weeks.

The situation might be different if the Glazers decide against selling the team. If they choose to invest in the minority, the summer budget might be constrained.

This, in our judgment, could play a significant role in the hunt for Osimhen. Goncalo Ramos of Benfica would be a little less expensive option and might be snatched up for €120 million.

Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta or Benjamin Sesko of RB Salzburg are two up-and-coming young strikers whom United may consider if they are unwilling to make a significant investment.
