Amourricho van Axel Dongen’s contract at Ajax is about to expire, therefore Manchester United is keeping an eye on his status ahead of the summer.

In the summer, is van Axel Dongen available?

The 18-year-contract old’s with Amsterdam is currently scheduled to expire at the conclusion of the season, making him a free agent.

There is a rumor that the Eredivisie giants are negotiating a new contract that might extend his tenure in Amsterdam.

But, the fact that there is still no agreement in place for the teenager to sign the contract that would extend his stay until 2027 gives some optimism to teams like United.

Also, Fabrizio Romano stated on his YouTube channel that Erik ten Hag would be eager to meet up with the young potential this summer at Old Trafford:

Because there is a talent at Ajax who is really, incredibly interesting, I have an exclusive update for you. Van Axel Dongen’s contract expires in the summer of 2023.

Van Axel Dongen is one of Man United’s youthful stars, and Erik ten Hag, who is highly familiar with the player and occasionally played with him, is a major fan of young players.

Because Manchester United is aware of the situation, he is a player to watch. There isn’t a bid at the time, but Man United is monitoring the situation.

What potential benefits may Van Axel Dongen provide Old Trafford?

The young Ajax forward appears to have a lot of potential, as evidenced by Ten Hag’s desire to sign him for the Premier League.

The Dutch manager will be familiar with this player from his time as manager in Amsterdam, and it was he who gave the forward his Eredivisie debut.

Ten Hag gave Van Axel Dongen, then just 17 years old, a chance in an away game against FC Utrecht that Ajax easily won 3-0.

Also, Ten Hag gave the young man two chances in the KNVB Beker cup, where he began during the 9-0 win over Excelsior.

Van Axel Dongen, on the other hand, hasn’t had as much luck this year because his possibilities have only been with the Ajax young team.

The 18-year-old has made 12 appearances for Ajax’s U21s and contributed one goal and one assist in those contests (via Transfermarkt).

It’s important to note that the young player’s season has been severely hampered by a ligament tear from which he has just recently recovered.

Ten Hag clearly believes the winger might develop under the prospective tutelage of the United star, even though it is improbable that the player would join United to unseat someone like Marcus Rashford off the bench.
