According to rumours, Arsenal will compete with Manchester United for Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.
This summer, United are reportedly interested in recruiting Dumfries, who is a “big fan” of Erik ten Hag.
Since taking over at Old Trafford, the manager of the Red Devils has been searching for a right-back and was strongly linked to Dumfries in January.
Yet in a significant setback for Ten Hag, Arsenal have reportedly joined the hunt for his services, according to Football Insider.
Arsenal enter race for Dumfries
Ben White has performed admirably this year as a fill-in right defender, helping Arsenal rise to the top of the Premier League standings.
But, Mikel Arteta is eager to expand his right-back lineup in anticipation of a hectic schedule the next season, with the possibility of playing in the Champions League all but assured.
Because to Inter Milan’s persistent financial problems, it is said that Dumfries might be acquired for a fee of between £40 and £50 million.
In 31 games this year for the Nerazzuri, the 26-year-old has two goals and six assists.
He started all five of the Netherlands’ World Cup games while playing under Louis van Gaal, and he had a fantastic tournament.
Last season, Takehiro Tomiyasu rose to the top spot on Arsenal’s right wing. He only made a few league starts this season, and as a result, he has lost popularity.
Cedric Soares, a backup fullback, was sent on loan to Fulham in January and is most likely to leave the team permanently in the summer.
Dumfries has also been connected to Chelsea. Yet, Stamford Bridge would be an improbable option given their recent acquisition of Malo gusto from Lyon and Reece James’ recent contract renewal.
