According to rumours, Manchester United and Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos are in contract negotiations.

Erik ten Hag is in the hunt for an elite number nine this summer, having been short of options in attack this season.

Harry Kane of Tottenham has emerged as the Ten Hag’s top pick. But, considering club president Daniel Levy’s desire for the England captain to remain in north London, the player will certainly come with a high price tag of over £100 million.

Likewise, Victor Osimhen of Napoli has received significant attention from United. Recently, the player expressed his ambition to compete in the Premier League.

The Nigerian is anticipated to make a killing, though; Napoli anticipates paying more than £89 million for his talents.

Ramos, who Four Four Two has dubbed “the future Cristiano Ronaldo,” is reportedly the focus of Ten Hag’s attention at the moment.

‘Next Ronaldo’ discussions with Man Utd

According to Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manha, Manchester United and super agent Jorge Mendes are in advanced negotiations to sign Ramos.

After replacing Ronaldo in the starting lineup, the Portugal international grabbed attention at the World Cup in Qatar.

Ramos went on to score three goals against Switzerland and started the team’s final match against Morocco, but he was unable to stop the team from losing 1-0 to Switzerland in the quarterfinals.

The 21-year-old has scored 15 goals in 23 appearances, making him the leading scorer in the Primera Liga.

Most recently, he scored twice as his team routed Club Brugge, captained by Scott Parker, 5-2.

But Ramos wouldn’t be cheap. The striker’s deal with Benfica includes a £106 million release clause, and it is valid until 2026.

The club, according to the report, would be willing to sell the player for a lower price of £88.8 million (€100 million).
