“The reality as of today is…”- Romano reveals latest on MUFC target; Ten Hag is a”big fan”

Frenkie de Jong is “happy” at Barcelona and hasn’t said anything to indicate that he wants to leave, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has dealt Manchester United a major blow.

What’s new on Frenkie de Jong joining Manchester United?

There is little doubt that the Red Devils wanted to sign the midfielder to a contract in the Premier League last summer, but a deal never materialized.

Nonetheless, it appears that the club will pursue De Jong once more at the conclusion of the current campaign, according to a recent story in The Guardian.

Furthermore, according to rumors, if Barcelona wants to be active in the upcoming window despite their own financial issues, they may need to sell a number of players in the summer.

“We know how Erik ten Hag is a great admirer of De Jong, he’s always been a big fan; this is not changing,” Romano said in a video posted to his YouTube page. Frenkie de Jong is someone who Erik ten Hag would adore having around.

But the truth is that as of right now, Frankie has not informed Barcelona or anyone else of his desire to depart and go on the market.

“Frenkie is content in Barcelona. He’s on the field and is crucial to Xavi. So, the situation is in control at this time.

De Jong previously appeared to be content to decline any offers from Man Utd in favor of remaining put and making a name for himself in La Liga.

To be fair to him, it appears that he has accomplished this this season since he has participated in all but two league games, starting 18, while Barcelona appears destined to win the championship given their current nine-point advantage over Real Madrid.

But, the midfielder does have a familiarity with Erik ten Hag, having made 59 appearances for the coach when they were both at Ajax – so perhaps his arm might be twisted.

But, it appears like De Jong is currently entirely preoccupied with Barcelona, so it is definitely not worthwhile for United supporters to get too excited just yet.
