Wout Weghorst ‘confident’ of completing Man United loan mov
Manchester United need another striker. That much is obvious. After losing Cristiano Ronaldo, the Old Trafford club have found themselves a man down in a key area of the field.
Wout Weghorst is confident about a loan transfer to Man United.
With the Glazer family still looking to sell up, it’s highly unlikely they’d be prepared to spend big money to bring in a replacement.
Loan moves have been the talk of the town, with a potential deal for Wout Weghorst looking like a real possibility at this stage.
The latest information in the Weghorst saga comes from the Manchester Evening News, who have been amongst the frontrunners throughout this story.
They state that the player is now ‘confident’ of completing a January loan move to United, as negotiations with Besiktas, over the termination of his current loan there, are set to continue.
The deal is complicated by the fact that his parent club, Burnley, don’t have a recall clause within his current deal.
Although United sources say that this is nothing more than United assessing their options, sources in the Netherlands believe an agreement between United, Weghorst and Burnley is ‘close’.
It’s Erik ten Hag who has earmarked Weghorst as someone who can come in and play the short-term support role to Anthony Martial, with the Frenchman definitely needing some help in that main striker role.
Weghorst has eight goals in sixteen games for Besiktas, while his work rate, physical presence and aerial threat are viewed as some key traits for United at this point in time.
Ten Hag is pushing for a ‘swift’ move to bring in some attacking reinforcement this month, with Weghorst seemingly the man who he wants to bring in.
