Manchester United are linked with a number of strikers and the latest name in the limelight is that of Wout Weghorst.
According to The Mirror, the Dutch international is closing in to agree a loan move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The British news source claim Erik ten Hag has been looking at options to strengthen the strike-force and with no funds granted to sign a new striker, the Dutch manager is set to seal the loan signing of his compatriot.
Weghorst joined Burnley last year in the winter window, made 20 appearances for the Clarets and scored only two goals.
Currently, he is playing with Turkish giants, Besiktas, and this season, he has netted 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 18 appearances.
Yesterday, the 30-year-old center-forward scored the decisive goal to earn all three points for his team against Kasimpasa.
As per The Athletic, Besiktas have an option to make his loan move permanent at the end of the season for just 10 million euros and any move to United would need their consent.
Weghorst has made 19 appearances for the senior international side thus far and he scored a brilliant brace against Argentina in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. The South Americans eventually won the contest on penalties.
The veteran forward, who earns around £40,000 a week (Salary Sport), will surely be a short-term fix at Old Trafford but is he really good enough to be a Man United striker? Only time will tell.
