Manchester United will consider making an offer for Al Nassr striker Vincent Aboubakar, according to reports in the English media.
Cristiano Ronaldo has recently moved to Aboubakar’s team so the 30-year-old is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements and, with United looking at the loan market, he will be among the top options available on a temporary basis this month.
Aboubakar had notable spells at both Porto and Besiktas before he decided to make the switch to Saudi Arabia eighteen months ago and the Cameroon international is not short of confidence either. In an interview back in November, he boldly claimed that he possesses the same ability as Liverpool’s Mo Salah:
“I’m not impressed by him [Salah]. I can do what he does. I just don’t have the opportunity to play in a big club. I understand people’s attitudes, he’s one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League. It makes sense that when you go on about a player like that, people will talk. But I did say that it was my opinion, my point of view.”
Whether Aboubakar actually possesses the talent to make an impact at Old Trafford, it is debatable. He is not blessed with a great deal of pace, and he would likely only be used as a bench option if signed.
