Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has always been happy at Old Trafford and wants to continue playing there, Fabrizio Romanohas told GiveMeSport.

The Italian journalist now thinks there is a good chance that the 23-year-old signs a new long-term contract with the Red Devils and has suggested that both parties have already starting talking.

Man United contract news – Diogo Dalot

United manager Erik ten Hag recently confirmed that Dalot was one of four players at the club who have had their existing deals extended by another 12 months.

“Yes, I can confirm it,” the Dutchman told the club’s media channels when asked about one-year clauses in Dalot, Fred, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw’s contracts being triggered.

“We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.”

United’s Portuguese right-back had previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the Daily Mirror claiming that the Spanish giants had identified him as an alternative to compatriot Joao Cancelo.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Diogo Dalot and Man United

Romano has informed GMS that there is now a good chance that Dalot puts pen to paper on a fresh contract.

On the former Porto man, the transfer expert said: “The player has always been happy with Man United. He had possibilities with Atletico Madrid, Milan again and Borussia Dortmund in the last few years and months, but he always wanted to continue there.

“So I think Man United have a good chance to extend Diogo Dalot’s contract, but it’s still early stages at the moment.”
