Man United open talks with club over signing of 25yo attacker, valued at least£34m

Manchester United lost Cristiano Ronaldo. Then failed to sign Cody Gakpo. The Old Trafford club are now scuttling around trying to replace the dressing room void left by arguably the greatest player to ever do it…

Buying in the mid-season window is notoriously difficult at the best of times. Factor in the Glazer family trying to sell up and avoid putting more money into proceedings makes it even harder.

It’s why a short-term move feels like the most likely option (to us anyway) at this time. However, that’s not stopping the transfer rumours from swirling…

It’s Media Foot with the latest information. Thanks to The Express for the translation. They link the Reds with a move to bring in Martin Terrier from Rennes.

Apparently, United have opened talks with the Ligue 1 club over the signing of the 25-year-old attacker, with Tottenham Hotspur also keen on bringing in the Frenchman.

Terrier’s stock has risen over the last year or so, scoring goals galore in his homeland for Rennes – including 21 strikes in Ligue 1 in 2021/22. He also has 15 goal involvements in 20 games already this term.

Terrier, who attracted interest over the summer, was valued at £34m back then, though that cost has believed to have increased since due to his good form. Meaning he’d cost at least the £34m quoted, probably now in excess of £40m.

Again, I’m just not convinced United have that sort of money readily available right now. The Glazers are masters at taking cash out of the club rather than injecting it. You’d imagine that’ll continue to be the case until they eventually sell up – hopefully, sooner rather than later…
