There is a belief Manchester United will be aggressive in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has informed GiveMeSport.
The England international continues to be heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with United one side who are thought to be interested in him.
Man United transfer news – Jude Bellingham
The Sun recently claimed that Erik ten Hag wants to bring both Bellingham and Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford as he looks to bolster his midfield.
The Dutchman will undoubtedly face competition for the former, though, with the Premier League’s other big hitters circling.
According to the Daily Mail, Bellingham is set to be the subject of a bidding war involving United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Outside of England, Real Madrid are also expected to enter the fray.
The same outlet states that Dortmund will demand at least £130m for the England star, whose maturity has been described as “remarkable” by The Times’ Henry Winter.
What has Ben Jacobs said about Jude Bellingham and Man United?
Jacobs has told GMS that some believe United could come in hard for Bellingham, though he has his doubts about whether they are actually in a position to land the 19-year-old.
On their interest, the CBS reporter said: “Some will tell you Manchester United will be quite aggressive, but they’ve got to find the funds. They also may not have Champions League football, and there’s far more uncertainty at that football club compared to others.”
Are Man United at a disadvantage in the race for Jude Bellingham?
Compared to some of their rivals, yes. Funds for a club like City, for example, are unlikely to be a problem, while you would also expect the Premier League’s second-placed team to qualify easily for next season’s Champions League.
If United, who are currently playing in the Europa League, fail to finish in the top four this term, you suspect that is any chance they had of signing Bellingham gone.
As well as City, it looks like they will also have to compete against Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid, who all have their own appeal, for his signature.
When you consider all of that, it is not going to be easy for United to sign Bellingham next summer. Whatever the case, interest in both him and De Jong suggests Ten Hag is still not completely satisfied with his midfield despite bringing in Casemiro, so expect a couple of new additions there in the near future.
